Solar Solve Marine has recently received a large order for its class approved roller screens to be installed at the navigation bridge of Ramform Viking, an ultra-high capacity 3D seismic vessel.
The vessel was built at Langsten S&B in Norway and launched in 1998. It is 9,500 GT with a length of 87 metres and a beam of 40 metres. The vessel has been active in west and south Africa, along with a productive period in Brazil’s Campos Basin. It returned to the North Sea in 2000 and since then Ramform Viking has worked in Europe, India, West Africa, the Middle East and the Gulf of Mexico. The vessel is managed by Wilhelmsen Ship Management AS.
Solar Solve specialises in providing sun and glare protection for the marine and offshore industry, and Solasolv anti-glare screens are installed at the windows of all types of ships, rigs and cranes worldwide. The product effectively rejects up to 87 per cent of heat and up to 93 per cent of glare from the sun to significantly reduce eye-strain.
Visual displays are easier to read and a clear outward view is maintained for safer navigation and marine operations. A more comfortable working environment means the ships’ crew are less prone to fatigue which can cause human error. Suitable for newbuilds and retrofits, Solasafe screens are guaranteed for seven years and Type Approved by Lloyds, ABS and DNV.
Paul Hopkins, executive, Sales and Marketing, Solar Solve, said: “This order for Solasafe sunscreens was quite a significant investment representing a total of GBP 12,000 for Wilhelmsen which shows they hold great faith and value in our company and the products we manufacture.”
Other recent news from the company involves an order for Solar Solve roller screens for four very large container carriers.
